Meaning & Intention

The Macabre Tarot is an artistic study of fear, loss, and transformation. Its imagery of skulls, snakes, swords, and occult motifs asks the reader to sit with the archetypes of shadow — the parts of the self most often avoided.

The gothic aesthetic is not only atmosphere. It resonates with the older mystery of life and death that tarot has always turned toward.

Structurally, the deck follows classic tarot. Visually, it leans into symbolism designed to stir the subconscious, honoring divinatory tradition while making room for modern spiritual art.

For readers unafraid of the deeper layers, it offers a path of bold honesty: made for seekers, witches, and edge-walkers.

Essence & Elements

Intention: Courage, truth, transformation

Ideal for: Tarot readers, shadow workers, and those drawn to gothic and occult themes

Suggested mantra: Truth lies in the shadows — do not fear what you find

Symbol: Skulls, snakes, swords, moons, bats, and blades

Questions & Guidance

Is it beginner-friendly?

Beginners can use it, but the imagery leans toward shadow work and tends to resonate more with experienced readers or those drawn to psychological and emotional depth.

What is shadow work?

Shadow work is the practice of exploring hidden aspects of the self — fears, wounds, and repressed truths — as a way toward healing and integration.

Can I use it for daily readings?

Yes. It works well for daily card pulls, longer spreads, or themed rituals focused on transformation and insight.

How is it packaged?

The deck arrives in a coffin-inspired box, made with collectors and lovers of the macabre in mind.

Too big

The boxes were much bigger than I thought they would be and seemed to be lacking in the quality I'm used to seeing in your products. I have returned both boxes via UPS and am awaiting my refund.

Understated design, well made

I wanted a simple reminder to take a moment to breathe throughout the day. This ring tells me to do just that. It's solid stainless steel, so it's durable. The embossing (engraving?) is clear and consistent from one letter to the next.
