Cast Iron Resting Jizo Statue, Made in Japan

A mere 2 inches tall, this resting Jizo statue of cast iron is ideal for a desk, shelf or windowsill. Jizo is a bodhisattva in Japanese Mahayana Buddhism who is said to have deferred his Buddhahood in order to instruct the denizens of the six worlds. This statue depicts him with a red cloak, and legend has it that he uses this garment to protect children who have entered the afterlife before their time.
