Om is a representation of the Creator. Om is believed to be the sound of life, present as a vibration in all living beings and in nature. It is also believed that Om was the sound that was produced when this universe was created. This handmade singing bowl features the symbol surrounded by a beautiful motif of leaves and lotus flowers in its interior. On the outside, the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum runs along its rim.

Singing bowls are a wonderful way to enrich your spiritual practice, having long been used for meditation and healing. The bowls are actually bells, and each produces vibrations that relax the body and mind and also mark the beginning of a ritual. To use, simply strike the side with the mallet and then run along its rim.

Meaning & Intention

At the center of this bowl sits Om, the primordial sound said to have accompanied the universe into being. Many traditions describe it as the vibration underlying all living things, and striking a bowl marked with this symbol is a way of returning to that original resonance before settling into meditation or ritual.

Surrounding the Om are lotus flowers and leaves, rendered in careful detail across the bowl's interior. The lotus rises clean and unstained from muddy water, making it one of the most enduring symbols of the mind's ability to remain clear and awake despite the conditions around it.

Running along the outer rim is Om Mani Padme Hum, one of the most widely recited mantras in Tibetan Buddhism and an invocation of compassion associated with Avalokiteshvara. Together, the interior and exterior engravings turn the bowl into a small map of practice: the sound at the center, the mind like a lotus, and compassion carried on every strike of the mallet.

Used to open a meditation session, mark a transition in a yoga practice, or simply to pause and reset during a busy day, this bowl turns a few minutes of sound into a small ritual. Striking the rim and letting the tone settle is an easy way to bring intention into an ordinary moment.
