At the heart of this singing bowl sit the Five Dhyani Buddhas, also called the Five Wisdom Buddhas: Vairocana, Akshobhya, Ratnasambhava, Amitabha, and Amoghasiddhi. In Vajrayana Buddhist teaching, each of these transcendent Buddhas presides over a direction, an element, and a particular affliction of the mind, transforming that affliction into its corresponding wisdom - ignorance into the wisdom of reality, anger into mirror-like clarity, pride into equanimity, attachment into discernment, and envy into all-accomplishing action.
