This ornate and elaborate wall hanging is done in the style of traditional Tibetan Thankga paintings. Originating in Tibet between the 7th and 12th century, Thangka wall hangings were hung in monasteries, at family altars, and used in ceremonial processions. Their images of deities and various religious scenes were a means to teach others about the life and ways of the Buddha. Framed by a colorful brocade fabric, this thangka feature an image of Green Tara, a female bodhisattva who embodies energy and vigor.
